Aguilar sl115 with a Fender Rumble 210

Hey all, I'm looking for some advice on pairing a Aguilar sl115 with a Fender Rumble 210. Will these work well together? Eventually I want to get the sl210 cab to pair with the sl115 just don't want to fork over that much cash at once. I tried the Sl115 with a ag700 head and love the sound but for some of my gigs I'm thinking it won't be enough for a stand alone. What's your thoughts? Both cabs are 8 ohms. Thanks.

This may not be an answer, but I have a pair of Aguilar DB 112's, and have used one of them as extension speakers to a Rumble 200 ( it has the 15, in it ), and what I noticed was a somewhat fuller sound, haven't used a Rumble 2-10 ( Rumble 500 ), or the stand alone cabinet, but I suspect the 10's will give you some "snap" to the overall sound

How do you like the DB112's? I haven't tried them just the SL series in a 15 and they sound amazing.

There ok, if you like the old school sound of bass, bought them on a whim, but when used with a Subway 800+, it's tone controls can somewhat open up the sound, the other issue is there bulky & heavy, I have used these speakers with a ToneHammer 500, a ThunderFunk 500, A Super Basman, and the tone is all in the ball park of old school bass ( think Fender Bassman, Bass channel through a large 2-12 cabinet, which really isn't a bad sound, but these speakers cabinets have a baked in tone ), the ThunderFunk 500 and the Subway 800+, have the most impact, in getting away from the baked in tone of those cabinets, the take away is you can't dial out that tone, as to the ToneHammer 500, it's a match for the amp & speakers, when you understand the ToneHammers tone controls, from what I have read over the years the DB series, was somewhat designed for the ToneHammer, best thing to do, is try to find some and try out

Thanks. I really liked the Aguilar ag700 head but I'm really unsure on what to get for a cab. Either 1x15 with a 2x10 or a 212. I'm also torn between Aguilar and Genzler for cabs. Worst of it is I have no where to try the Genzler, but I've heard great things.

I have an AG700 and 2 SL2x10's. They sound great, but I haven't tried mixing and matching with any other cabs. I used one cab and the amp tonight at a surf band rehearsal with a loud drummer and the lead player rocking a Fender Super Reverb. This combo can handle a lot in a single cab situation, especially if you've got PA support. 2 is glorious though and looks killer to boot.

After that endorsement I'll ironically mention that mine are listed in the classifieds currently. The 3 guitarists in my band all use Fender silver face amps so I'll likely go that route and might try something else for home practice…my inner Mike Pope fan boy has me leaning trickfish. Anyway, that Aggie stuff is killer and k think you'd be really happy with the AG700 + SL route.

You might want to ask in the Fender Rumble Club . A number of people there have been really happy pairing the Rumble 200 (1x15) with a 2x10 cab, or the 500 (2x10) with a 1x15 cab.

Just picked up an AG700 and have it paired with the Rumble 210 cab I had (extension to the rumble 500 combo that just died)...The head is amazing, but I purchased it after trying it on top of a Mesa Subway 115. When I got it home, it obviously sounded "rumble-like" through the 210. It handled last weekend's shows far better than the old combo and was a big upgrade. We do have a nice FOH system so didnt push anything hard at all, good loud stage volume when things get rowdy though.

Im going to lean toward advising you to try out things if at all possible, and commit to the one that will sound best and serve you well. These things hold their value mostly if you take care of them, though it is a lot of money to drop at once.

I owned two DB112s and completely agree with your review. I sold mine as soon as I could get someone to inherit the "pain".
