Dang, my field isn't that strict, ours is 10 feet minimum engagement distance with >425 FPS regular AEGS, 50 feet mimum with snipers and SAWs 450+ FPS.
PS- wearing full military load outs is fun. I have an ACU load out in the works.

I can get the realism thing to an extent. But when seeing people using kevlar vests at these things, it kinda beats the point, not to mention, do you even feel the damned things?!
While you have all your equipment on, you will only REALLY feel it if you get hit by a sniper, or lit up with full auto and hit 5+ times. All the ohter times, I usually hear it and see a BB bounce off. Or, you can get headshotted, recently I have seen 2 teeth chipped, a nose pierced (partially), and an ear pierced fully.
Well in my experience you rarely feel them anyway. Thick clothing is enough to stop most commonly used velocities. What sucks though, is getting laced up the knuckles.
I used to play, but then my AEG broke, my gas gun broke, and then my spring pistols and rifles broke. So I can't really play anymore.

What's the word on those Echo 1 guns? I've had my eye on a G36 or an AK for a long time.

I've never played with Airsoft guns on a regular basis, but I've played many games in the woods with single pump Daisy bb guns. It stings more, but I've never seen them break skin.
I would say that Echo 1s are the MIM Fenders oof airsoft. The get the job done, but maybe not as well as a Classic Army or Tokyo Marui. They are also $100+ cheaper.

I was afraid of that. When they first came out people made them sound like the shizzle...are we talking MIM Classic series, or MIM Standards?
Classic. When I plaed I would have said the Squier Bronco beaten to hell would be my M16. Recently though, they have become an actualy brand with some dignity.

Echo1 has of late become a quite reputable name. For a while Classic Army's quality control was getting lax, and many thought that Echo1 would soon equal or surpass them in terms of quality. Can't quite remember what happened with that though.
Creation, Echo 1 and some other guys make one. My stuff consists of an ICS MP5 SD6+Prometheus 300mm barrel and
a KWA USP Compact. Soon, I'll also own a Galaxy MP5K+old ICS 229mm barrel and suppressor for a loaner gun.
My Echo 1 Scar came in the mail a few days ago. I think it may be replacing my upgraded CA M15A4. 
This thing is shooting 390 FPs out of the box, and the externals feel solid as a rock. The only things that need improvement is the hop up (i have it set all the way down and the BBs are still shooting straight up) and the ROF.
