Alan Anton lays down a heavy bass line for Cowboy Junkies. Does anybody know his background, and his choice of instrument and his rig?

In the old days he seemed to favour a Hofner Violin Bass. In the more recent pictures I've seen he's playing a Jazz Bass, although I saw one shot where he's playing a Warwick.
