For me, "Quadrophenia" by the Who is my big go to album. Especially the remastered version (kind of eq'ed some of the tinniness out of it). I love the songs and I really can feel the mood of the character in each song. Everything from despair to rage.
"Alive in America" by Steely Dan is another. Great sound that lets each instrument occupy it's own space. Plus wonderfull musicianship on a whole range of classic Steely material.
And, of course, "Dark Side of the Moon". Nothing more to say about that one.

Just finished listening to Weather Reports "Mysterious Traveller" for the first time in ages..... this entire album just grooves and flows like nothing I've heard in quite some time,......comes awfully close to "perfect"
