Eric Johnson - Ah Via Musicom. ---I remember thinking, "Oh, so THIS is what virtuoso electric guitar sounds like!" Another album where there isn't a dog in the bunch. We used to cover Trademark back in the day, when nobody really knew who he was around here. EJ really raised the bar for artistic "electric guitarism" with this album; there's so much emotion on every note, and some cool production goodies, like having two flangers set identically but running in INVERSE to each other for a guitar solo - it makes you feel like you're a rocketship soaring through the atmosphere. It was the kind of album that made you want to play BETTER.
