Alcohol sucks

Only in Ohio. When I was living in Ohio, drinking light beer like Coors light and Bud light was the norm for everyone I met. It was amazing how many people were convinced they were drinking real beer rather than flavored pee. It must be an Ohio thing-maybe a midwest thing. I can't stand that stuff, and I'm not much of a drinker.

Nahh..its everywhere, not just Ohio. I'm not a light beer fan myself. I don't care much for Guinness straight, but I like a good Half and Half or Black and Tan. Anymore, I usually just drink Scotch or Crown Royal on ice.

Maybe...but it's not in CT, RI, MA, and NY from my experience. Can't beat the meat out there though-i really miss the West Side Market in Cleveland. Guiness straight is the only thing I've end up buying when I go to bars for the last four years.

Well, I don't drink, but not because I have something against alcohol and its effects (I don't, if you're a nice drunk). It's because alcoholic beverages taste so horrible! I like sweet flavors and can't stand alcohol because of that. I've known people who refer to whisky as the most delicious candy. And pure, BTW! No ice or water (That's blasphemy). I don't get it. That's why the only drinks I have (very, very seldomly and no more than two glasses) are Bailey's, peach vodka and piña colada.

I've pretty much stopped drinking as well. Although it's mainly to fund bass purchases. Average night out before giving up ~£30, now its only ~10ish.
Being a student, saving an extra 20quid a night out adds up over a term. Still regret the £2k I spent in a term (10wks) though. Could have had a Sadowsky for that :(

i've been drinking for manymany years...i also worked in a liquor store, so i have seen most everything....;)
you drank waaay too much, period. i know that isn't exactly a revelation...but it's still true.
you also mixed genres of drinks. that is not good.
there are waaay too many young people that think it is quantity over quality. not true...that just gets you killed. (my sweetheart is a nurse that spent many years in ER...she's seen it happen too much.)
find what you like, then stick to it, and don't try to keep up with the idiots. find your own level, and DESIGNATE A DRIVER!!!!!!!
as far as 'manliness' in drinking...a real man knows when to stop.
anyway, preaching is over. just my observation here.

Yeah dude... you can’t jump all in with out drinking before... you kind of have to work yourself up to be a drunk :)

Here is things you probably really messed up on

Rule #1 DO NOT DOWNGRADE
So if you drinking a beer... then you go up to vodka... don’t come back down to beer... downgrading makes you sick... vodka and beer will make you sick if you are not a pro...

MIXING will make you sick if you are beginner... once you get used to it its not that bad if you know what to mix...

Drinking can only be done if you enjoy it... if you do it to please your friends it’s not a happy drunk

Eat when you drink... you have to have a chaiser to drink...

I don’t know... the whole thing was wrong I think... really what you just listed would get me buzzing just a bit... not even drunk... 13 shots of 180proof moonshine chaises it with vodka in 1 night makes me drunk... but you cant have 13 shots of 180 proof when you drinking for 1st time... it will kill you... you got to know how to do it and what you are doing...

Advice if you actually somewhat enjoy getting drunkish once in a while... and i don’t mean making yourself do it... Don’t drink all the time... drink once in a while and work yourself up to knowing what you are doing... drink stuff you enjoy to drink... don’t downgrade... chaise it with something... drink when you feel like it... and its not a freaking horse race... drink how you like to don’t try to beat anyone... drink what will make you happy... being light way is not a bad thing... it saves you money...

Good thing to do... seat around with buddies doing BS and just drink a beer... pick something good... new castle, guiness, bavaria, black lion, bass (mmmm black and tan) and few others (no coors... coors sucks... it glows in dark with its nukclear powerplant upsteam from it)... then if you want to try something harder... i personally like vodka myself (plain...) but i am Russian... but again dont mix it with beer and dont downgrade...

Just have a brew and you will be ok... dont drink cheap crap and you will feel good...

Cheers

I gotta ask, what is the point of getting that drunk? I just felt dizzy and couldn't talk right; it really wasn't THAT much fun. I don't see why people go out every weekend with the intention of getting flat on their ass drunk. A casual drink or two is fine, but if you go to a party and intend to pass out and vomit then something is friggin wrong with you.
Remember your words. They are true now, and become more true with age, until they become very true. If you don't like it, why do it? I was over 30 when I finally realized I don't like anything to do with drinking. You're lucky ... you're wise for your age. Live it.

Throwing up everywhere, carried into a car, put into your bed, losing your senses. I don't get it. Never have, never will. For the most part it's a waste of time and a waste of money, drinking in excess that is. You've got the rest of your life to indulge in adult activities. My advice is to listen honestly to yourself, and YOU, set your life's priorities. Don't be influenced negatively by anyone who doesn't know you or that you don't trust. Is consuming alcohol really that important?

Many people who posted here are likely alcoholics. I'm not accusing anyone, it's just that stastics don't lie, and odds are there are some alcoholics here posting their advice and/or opinions. If alcohol is a PRIORITY in your life, I pray that you'll get some help. I've watched a man literally throw away his entire life away, literally right in front of my eyes. He lost his wonderful wife, 2 beautiful kids, a career where he was a very wealthy man, money, etc. He lost it all. He's 50 and I doubt he'll make it to 55. He drinks a half gallon a day. I knew him when he was starting to drink beer.

I respect everyone's right to do whatever they want, so long as it's within the law. I don't think alcohol sucks, not at all. It needs to be consumed responsibly. I love an ice cold beer or a glass of wine every now and again.

No disrespect to anyone here. I don't know any of you. I just have a strong opinion on the subject matter.

having all that variety throughout the night in your drinks is a bad idea. that will make you more likely to puke as others have said. Best thing is to stick to one type of drink for the night. I only drink beer so that's an easy choice for me.

When I was younger and drank liquor I threw up a lot too. Liquor sucks in my opinion!!

Incorrect, as the saying goes:

"Beer before liquor, never sicker.
Liquor before beer, in the clear."

Nope, I have found that that rule definitly does not apply to me. I think that Kserg got it right, thinking about it it's been times when I've hopscotched from beer to liquor to beer to liquor that I got sick.
I've found that the most important factor is time, though. If you drink fast, no matter what it is, you'll get stinking drunk or sick easier than when you pace yourself.
