The owner's probably too good for a Squier.If someone had to make those marks to know where they are, they, by no means should be playing an Alembic. They deserve nothing better than a Squire!
Two quick comments:
1) The older Alembics did not use a poly finish.
2) Some people (like me) consider basses a work of art. Thus, although it still sounds the same, it is like defacing a Rembrandt.

I happen to have a right-handed 1998 Alembic Epic bass and it does not have a poly coating. They started putting them on basses later on.
Also, what does it matter what the level of damage is? The simply point I was making it that it was defaced (jeez). You could have easily used masking tape to get the same results.
