Alerts from unread threads

The other day I started getting alerts from threads that I haven't checked in a long time, and I am still getting alerts from threads that I haven't checked/read. Is anyone else having this problem? I didn't... I don't think I changed any settings prior to this happening.

Same has been happening to me. I wonder if something with the alert system has changed.

Looks like I may have changed a default behavior. This used to be an option in your preferences to turn on "Persistent Alerts" (which use alert read status to reset alerts, not thread visits), I'll see about getting it back.

Ok that was an easy fix

So by default "Persistent Alerts" is turned on (I think it's more intuitive for new users), but you can turn it off by going here: https://www.talkbass.com/account/alert-preferences

... and then uncheck this:

That way you'll be back the old 'no more alerts until you load the thread in your browser' behavior
