Alesis i/o dock users

I've got an alesis i/o dock for my ipad, and am well aware that you can plug your bass straight into the dock. However, i just recently got a new amp (eden nemesis) with a recording out. So, i bought an unbalanced XLR to TS cable hoping that i could run my bass through the amp
first, then from the amp to the i/o dock. Alas, after hooking everything up, garageband was unable to pick up a signal. I checked to make sure everything was hooked up right, and that the volume levels were up loud enough on everything to pick up any sound that would have came through. No dice.

Anyone else using an i/o dock setup for recording and have any ideas as to if im doing something wrong, or if the setup i am trying to achieve is even possible? Any info is greatly appreciated in advance! :)

(P.s. would it really have been that hard for them to include a couple bass amps? Once again, the lowly bassist gets the wrong end of the stick.)

On your ipad, go to Settings > General > About and look for the dock. "Alesis IO Dock" should show up at the bottom of the list, just under "Wifi". If it's not there, disconnect and reconnect, check the power etc.

Yeah, i get a signal (garageband) just fine if i plug straight into the i/o dock. I was just hoping i could run it through my amp first to give me a better tone/ more eq options. If not, i guess ill have to settle.

It would be really nice to see them come out with even just a few bass amp models on GB. Eq'ing my bass on a "clean combo" ( vox ac30) just feels weird. Oh well, you cant expect TOO much from a 400 dollar ipad and a 5 dollar app :)

It sounds like a cable issue.. If GB is getting signal I don't see why you can't get signal from your amp.. maybe the recording output has to be balanced?
On the other hand, I don't know if GB can be set as output in Audiobus, but if it can, Jamup + bass bundle is only $15 right now and has some really nice amp models.
