Very human-like torso.

That is explained in the film though. The alien that is "born" from inside the host takes on a lot of the attributes of the host. Hencfe why in Alien and Aliens, there was a strong "humanoid" resemblence to the aliens whereas, in Alien 3, the alien was hosted by the dog and was more "dog-like".And yet, strangely human...

The way I see it, if they're out there, they want nothing to do with us. Either they're technologically behind us, or if they're technologically advanced enough to have interstellar travel, what would they want with our dinosaur technology?
