All Things Must Beat. Share Anything Beatles!!

My Kid Brother's Band a.k.a. The Beatles! by Louise Harrison

In case anyone doesn't know, this is the book that George's sister wrote. It's an insider's view, needless to say. We think of, for example, the significance of the Ed Sullivan show. Her account of that was especially interesting. George was quite ill at the time. She was the one behind the scenes taking care of him. It's a wonder he was even able to perform. But he did. They made it fine as the whole world was able to see. But George needed some extra help from his sister at that time.

BTW, I hope this hasn't been discussed already. I'm relatively new to this thread.

I remember reading where Louise recalled: A doctor was called in for George because he had a very high fever. When I told the doctor I was George's sister he said "good. I want you to take care of him because right about now you're the only sane woman in all of New York city!"

That's a great quote by that doctor and sums up the situation perfectly.

I like all the Beatles songs except maybe "#9" because it's not really a song but the guys messing around in the studio with loops, sound FX, and what not. Surprisingly that type of aural cacophany turned up on other band's albums shortly there after.
I thought I knew every single song the Beatles recorded until one afternoon in a bar, the juke box had all the current hit songs and their 'B' sides.
Well, the B side to "Let it Be" was "You Know My Name (Look Up the Number)" Huh? so I put my 25 cents in and well, the first 50 seconds of the song sounds very promising then it turns into a Monty Python-esque charade. It's obvious they were justly goofing around and making fun of lounge music. Certainly last on my list of Beatles Favorites.

You Know My Name...

I've always loved that song.

#9 or You Know My Name?
Both are on my list of favorites, just not at the top.
Side note: In the 90's I was a single Dad with 3 rambuctious girls. Weekends I spent driving them from one activity to another, mostly sports they played. During the drives I'd always play Beatles, Bach, Mozart or Beach Boys. My youngest has a great voice and my thought was these CD's offered great vocals and excellent melody line, which is a good thing to get in your memory banks. But whenever #9 "song" track started playing she'd start screaming or crying in fear. I'd have to hit the Skip button which would quickly end her freak out.
