All Things Must Beat. Share Anything Beatles!!

Well... I just listened again and I'm back to thinking it's John again.

I've always heard a lot of similarities in their voices. Except, I initially thought George's voice wasn't good enough to sing lead, so he concentrated on guitar. Early on I couldn't tell John & Paul's voices apart (except Paul's very high notes) and I never visualized George singing "Do You Want to Know a Secret" (Paul?) and "Devil in Her Heart" (John?). In the late '60s I was surprised at some of John's high notes, too. Then, much later, I was very surprised to learn George sang "Young Blood" when it sounded like John to me.

The reverb in there makes it even more difficult.

I'm beginning to worry if it wasn't some kind of studio ghost or poltergeist phenomenon. A psychic energy force created by the collective musical egos of the band members. That might explain the discrepant memories of the session. Perhaps the reality was so strange and terrible that their minds blocked it or distorted what really happened.

Things that make you go, "Hmmmm ... ..." department:

I'd never really thought of Mal Evans as a "Fifth Beatle", but this article documents his work as a producer! For Badfinger! (AKA The Iveys). I knew about his counting off bars, audibly, on "A Day in the Life" to set off the alarm clock, in addition to schlepping gear for The Fab Four for years. But this is a whole 'nother side of him for me. Ironically, his own life ended as tragically as a couple of The Iveys' did. Am I the only one that was in the dark?

Known to me. What it tells me is that anyone can be a producer.

Mal also was one of the Emaj piano players in A Day In The Life. He played bass harmonica on Mr. Kite. He played single organ note on the final verse of You Won’t See Me, backing vocals and handclaps on Dear Prudence, and trumpet on Helter Skelter. He helped out on songs whenever needed.

Another interesting story. Mal helped write lyrics for Fixing a Hole. He was promised a royalty or maybe a house by Paul but in the end they backtracked because of the Lennon/McCartney partnership and legal complexities. Or so he was told. Maybe Paul was high when he made the offer. He was apparently paid well for the contribution.

Here is a shameless plug for how to watch Invalid Link Removed later this month on the Disney+ streaming service. I read that the previous free trial is no longer available in the USA & UK, but there is a $1.99 for first month offer. Happy Disney+ Day today! :)

I'm sure looking forward to this different perspective from the original "Let It Be" movie, "but I'm not the only one." I hope everybody interested gets to see it soon!

I expect that they will make it available for purchase.

Oh, of course there will be a disc, or four, or even more, at some point after they feel the streaming has "run it's course." But, I'm married to a Disney-holic and most of the grandkids are still fans, too. So, this Beatles event is for me!

Why, there's already a "Get Back" companion book available! So, far, I'm content to let it reside on my Christmas wish list, but we'll see how that goes. (sigh) Anybody here already have the "Get Back" book and care to share your review? :)
