The Beatles did have a reputation of being more pop entertainers in their very early days. But they opened the door for everyone else, including the Stones and music evolved quickly. It then came down to are you in the Beatles camp or in the Stones camp. Much like there were Mods and Rocker gangs in London. I was always on the side of the Beatles.

I remember those 'rivalries'. What upset me was when House of the Rising Sun bumped the Beatles from the top of the charts. Oddly, I've played that tune more times than I can remember - more times than the various Beatle songs I've played.

Beatles and Mods interested me in the early days, mid-Sixties. Then The Who, Stones, Kinks, Yardbirds and Animals paved the way for Cream and Hendrix 66 to 68. Pink Floyd, Procol Harum and The Moody Blues filled the background sounds. By 1969 all hell broke loose with bands coming from London, NYC and LA.

Lots of very good-to-excellent Beatle tribute bands tour and do great shows! And some band members move to, and from, different Beatles bands. It's a whole cottage industry unto itself! Including TB's own @nixdad and Link Removed!

@GonePlaid and I have seen some very good Beatles bands, over the course of many years, in the outdoor gazebo behind the Rose & Crown Pub in the United Kingdom section of Disney World's EPCOT center. Some of them even perform other groups' '60s music while in their Beatles outfits!

Most of the best Beatles tribute bands nail, or give great interpretations of, the music and singing. But the best experiences also include reasonable facsimiles of the instruments, amps and clothes. But, my all time favorite that I've seen live, so far, (pro'lly 'cause I was in the front row!) was the Classical Mystery Tour with my local symphony orchestra !!! Man! They can do fantastic musical arrangements that you can't really get from a 4-man group alone. Highly recommended.

So on the topic of Beatles' Tribute Bands (And Tribute ones-- not cover bands)--yeah the ones that play Beatles' songs as closely as possible, and dress up like them & use the same or similar instruments, etc.

Yes. Yes, it does! But, you know, left-handed singing bass players don't grow on trees.

I have, also, seen a left-handed singing bass playing faux "Paul" in a Beatles tribute band who played guitar right-handed for "Yesterday". That messed with my mind! At the end, when they introduced each others' real names (which I've forgotten, of course) they announced that the "Paul" guy was really right-handed, but had learned to play bass left-handed just for this band! Whoa! Dude! ... ...

Hey, dude! Don't play it right. Take a Hof-ner and play it lef-ty-y-y. Remember, you're not who you u-used to be. Now you must be-ee someone better. ... ... ...

I’m left handed but learned to play right handed. When I first took music lessons, they believed that everyone should play right handed. I didn’t even know that there were left handed instruments till I saw McCartney. BTW, macca plays his old upright, once used by Bill Black with Elvis, right handed.

Unless the image is reversed in that video, he is playing left-handed.
He is plucking the strings with his left hand, just like he would with his Hofner, Rick, etc.

Or did you mean it is strung right handed?
because it does appear to be so.

Hey, no problem--just trying to make sure.

Most of the lefties I know can play a bass or guitar strung right handed with minimal additional effort.
& Paul's been doing it long enough, it's possibly second nature.

I thought about stringing a bass with the G on the top...I bet you would come up with different patterns.

I also play Mandolin & the strings are reverse order (& still low to high in the same direction)--so yeah--you could.
