Almost done deciding on which bass to get!

Ok guys so i narrowed it down to 2 choices

Squier Vintage Modified Jazz

or

Fender Standard Jazz (MIM)

i really cant decide on which to get. Im not very good at setting up instruments so id prefer something that is good right out of the box. Also im looking for a good bass amp that is good enough for small gigs. hopefully less than $300 but could go a bit over for the amp if i get the squier because it is quite a bit less

from what i hear, the VM's are stellar. with a few upgrades it could be as good or better than a MIM

Well..... you are taking a chance on getting any bass "out of the box" thats playable to your standards.... Have you tried both? there is nothing wrong with either of your choices and it's up to you which one you like best.....

I wouldn't bet on either of them being well setup out of the box, my VM P was playable out of the box but still needed the relief and action adjusting to suit me.
