almost hit a deer

I hit one in '74 and in '92. Not a pretty sight.

Hint, if you happen to notice deer crossing or about to cross in front of your vehicle, slow down and lay on your horn. The horn beeping usually causes them to get out of your way.

At night, your headlights freak them out because they see their shadow moving on one side of them and your car coming on the other and they don't know what to do.

ive managed to swerve around the only two ive been driving towards (though one was already a corpse...). however, when i was younger and my dad was driving (ford expedition), a deer appeared out of nowhere and he didnt even blink, just drove through the thing and never stopped. as we drove away he explained that a friend of his in college swerved to avoid a deer and got severely injured. the car didnt need any repairs.

This actually happened to me tonight. I picked up my cab from a friends house and was turning off of his street when something hunched over and gray ran out in front of my car. It turned out to be a little doe but it scared the crap out of me because I thought it was a little kid(his neighborhood has HORRIBLE lights for the streets). And yeah, that`s that.

Deer suck! I think they need to extend hunting season to thin them out a little more. Surely it is more humane for them to get shot than to be impaled and splattered on the road.

This has been a core belief of mine since I hit a deer on the New York Thruway in the 90's. I didn't have time to swerve even if I wanted to and the road was kinda slick. Damage was in the $2-3,000 range.

i know a guy who hit one on a bike going about 70. he literally split the deer in half. messed him up too, put him in the hospital for a while.

this is why i use these:
