alright, replacing RBI with...??

It's a great unit just not anything what I am looking for. As I've posted before I am using an Ibanez soundgear sr505 and QSC GX5 power amp.

I am looking for simple, clean and punchy. I don't need two channels or massively sweepable lows and highs, but sweepable mids is nice. I tend to set my eq and use fingers/bass eq for room/song tweaks. I don't need any distortion or other on board effects (compressor maybe), but an effects loop would be nice (not a need though). And I am looking for as much punch as I can get out of this bass with as little rumble as possible. I'd prefer a rack mount but am open to other ideas. Since this isn't really the right bass to get the "exact" sound I'm looking for, I don't need studio quality either. $400 or less hopefully.

Suggestions? I am trying to get this rig as close as possible so I can start saving up for a better bass. Thanks

Treble, middle, bass, sweepable mids (with adjustable Q), effects loop, but no compressor; very clean and punchy
No longer made but very available on the used market as they are well built
Just borrowed one from a close friend and I can see it not being returned anytime soon

Yeah it just goes boom with my bass and the mid control seems to be worthless for my situation. It's a great ampeg sound but I am looking for an Eden type of sound. Tight and punchy vs dark and boomy. I just can't afford an Eden Navigator right now so I'm trying to get close for cheap. Note that I said "close". :)

I have not tried the BMax-T, but do have the BMax Solid State and you may want to consider it. It has a weird tone stack but it has incredible lows and a decent amount of punch. Price for used is very affordable and about $300 new. It's been a solid performer but the weird tone stack has caused me to move on. Just got a used Eden Navigator but will be keeping the BMax for a while just in case.

P.S. I bought both the RBI and BMax SS new to try them side by side. The BMax won hands down for me. I did not need the distortion and it seemed to have more low end punch.

hmmm... that bmax ss looks intriguing, but I'm still curious about the Aguilar tone hammer too. The tonebone is looking nice too, but still for the price the aggy is starting to edge ahead, just still curious if I would be jumping from fire to pan and end up with the same boominess.

I may have a problem here. I use the XLR out on my RBI because there is no internal jumper in my GX5. Aka I have to use the XLR in on the power amp and then use a TRS jumper in order for it run both channels so there is no open 1/4" input. With the Bmax the XLR is only at mic level which I don't think would work with this amp. Am I missing something here???:confused:
