If it must be a combo, I have always been very impressed with the Mark Bass 115 combos, but at your price, it would have to be used.

For the volume you need, a combo isn't going to be the best value. Used GK MB500 and a good used 410 or 212 is going to bury most any combo in your price range.

At $1000 it would have to be used???

What the hell are they charging for combos these days?


OP....you don't need a combo....you need a proper amp and cab, and cwn get rock-n-roll volume with good tone for less than $1000, especially if shopping used.

Quality used gear beats the pants off of budget model new gear every single time. For the same price, you could get budget crap new, or pro-quality used. The latter is always the better option.

+1 on used head and cab(s) for you budget you can get a ton of amp here on the classifieds, used local deals or GC used site

if you are still keen on a combo...I would reduce your budget and look at a GK MB combo, a GB Contour (I think they are being cleared out for very low prices), a Fender Rumble or a TC BG combo....personally I would opt for the Contour if you can get that deal or a Rumble...but plenty of folks love the GK and the TC..(and fwiw I would not be concerned if I came upon either of these as provided amp at practice space or a small gig...ime, imho, ymmv

I'd be surprised by any 1x15 combo that would be under $1000 that would cut through 2 guitarists and a HH drummer.

I also say amp/head is more versatile.

However, I recently assembled my rig of a used GK MB210 and used MBE410 to get 500watts into 6x10's...all for about $725

I really dig my Super Red head. It's a bit heavy but might be the best amp I own.

Check Ebay for blow outs on GB contours. Approximately 350 bucks for an amp that will fill your need.
