Double Bass Alternate Stand for Conklin MEU?

I've owned a 4 string Conklin MEU for a long time now. Last year I had an equipment bag stolen and, unfortunately, the stand that goes with the bass was in that bag. As I only use it occasionally during a set and don't have time to strap it on in between songs, playing the bass without some sort of stand isn't a possibility for me. Conklin is apparently redesigning the MEU and the price tag on their replacement stands was prohibitive for me anyway. I'm looking for some suggestions on an aftermarket stand that might be able to hold my MEU so that I can play it without having to strap it on. Any thoughts? On the old stand the bass sits in a U shaped cradle and then also attaches a little higher up on the bass with a Dunlop styled strap lock.

Wow, this is interesting indeed!
I own a 5-string MEU and I didn't know this design existed! I'm also on the lookout for a stand! Hopefully we'll be able to figure something out!
