Am I an "incompetent" bass player?

I don't get this...

And who cares if you are incompetent or not, it doesn't matter as long as you and your band are all happy about how you are playing.

As a keyboardplayer and bass player I am perfectly capable in the band I'm in, as I have the skills that are needed.
But if I was to audition as new keyboard player for Dream Theater, then I could rightly be descriped as deeply incompetent for my lacking skills.
It all depends on the context.

On the sunny side of things....

Some of the more seasoned TB'ers have attempted to help the OP with their individual perspectives on theory, and it has also been helpful for "younger" players like me in getting a different angle on stuff I've already covered, or introducing me to entirely new concepts, notwithstanding the regrettable drama and your unwitting inclusion. If nothing else, thanks for inspiring some unintentional instruction.

I'll never understand why people here, all bass players and oughta be friends in pursuit of knowledge/fun together, will turn things into personal slam fist fight name calling extravaganzas here.
