Apparently, it’s jewelry. What's the best scam for metal?
It was PayPal that refunded our money to them. I have feedback of well over a thousand positive EBay sales but now we do not sell on EBay. (I have sold on EBay since 1997)
The jewelry world is actually small, we have jewelry friends who were cheated in the same way by this same buyer/seller. Hard to believe EBay goes along with it but they do.
Consider yourself fortunate.I’ve been selling on eBay for 22 years with tens of thousands of transactions and I’ve never had the kind of nonsense I read about in these threads, ever.
Exactly. The seller did the same scam with at least two other savvy sellers we know (friends of my wife). Word got around about the scammer of course but they are still on EBay under a different name buying, selling and scamming. This is crazy. Why would eBay allow someone like that to keep on scamming?
I hate to sell on EBAY. EBAY don't backup seller.
In 20 years using eBay I've been scammed both as buyer and seller - in all those occasions eBay's protection guarantees were not honoured and eBay's customer support were worse than useless. Last time was as a seller and eBay took the part of a dishonest buyer, but I claimed against eBay in PayPal and won but I won't sell on eBay again. With all of these organisations the decision makers are kids in call centres doing underpaid jobs they probably hate and there's no appeal if you don't like what they decide. Reverb seems to be much better and I can't help thinking that's because feedback works in both directions there.

Don’t think you are immune to getting cheated on EBay.
I have no axe to grind against EBay, and am telling the truth of our (and others) bad experience. We have moved on to other platforms to sell on.
You act like I’m trying to get away with something. Or lying. Or not being truthful. I have yet to be transparent? Seriously? You have yet to really transparent about how your ‘scam’ went down. Nevertheless, I’ve never been taken to the cleaners the way some of you carry on.
If anyone sells something that's expensive, take photos- lot of them, at various stages of packing- if the box was shipped with clear, tan or some other kind of tape and it shows up with something else, the proof is there.
People used to be honest- that was a better time.
But you usually get much higher selling prices by opening your market to the entirety of the United States versus a local sale. You'll get even better prices by shipping internationally, but you have to know what you're doing. A box that's an inch over dimension can end up costing another $300, and then there is always the crap shoot with customs.[/QUOTE
Mostly I was considering the buyer of a high price item. He has more to loose. Maybe I am just old fashioned. I want to test drive the car, sit on the sofa and actually play and feel the bass.
A while back I was looking to purchase a Stingray. I have always wanted one and the time was right. I got onto ebay just to see what was out there, pricing etc. I did see a nice one in California. I didn't get it because...well I ain't driving to California. There are other basses. If it had been in say....Minnesota I would have drove there happily. Like I said though, that's just me.

Blues with a bit of jazz. Really liked them back then. That’s when I saw them a few times, right up to Benefit.Well, it's not as if they walked in and grabbed it- it was an award, so someone thought they deserved it. A very odd choice, but.....
And, to think they started as a Blues band.....
