Am I being unreasonable?

I had a good gig with a well known name did my home work, you know get all the little things down, But there was this guy who saw me play with him acouple times and started to ask the drummer if he could sit in on the gig with my gear with out even comming to me first then he would show up at my gigs with my other band and bring his bass. some people just cant just be listeners they have to try and take your gig "the gig snake" evnentualy he would just show up at our practices and pushed me out of the gig by being there all the time when I was teaching.

Once again, thanks for the comments and opinions.

For me, it is a fine line between being too uptight and standing up for the respect that I feel I deserve. I am 45 years old and have been getting paid to play for over 25 years. I build my own instruments, run sound for the band, and tend to be somewhat self-effacing and quiet. I can put up with a lot of crap, but still feel that I should be respected as a musician and a person.

I wouldn't do a lot of the things that I have mentioned above, therefore I think I sub-consciously judge those that do those things. I have a Master's degree and a day job, and I think I expect a measure of professionalism, which you simply are not going to find in a bar full of drunks. Maybe I just need to chill out....

Naw man. You deserve respect. Everyone does. To me, those guys would give my band a bad rep. I don't think I could take that kind of crap from your sax player.

That sounds like a great gig that you wouldn't want to lose by turning it into a livingroom jam.
Most of my gigs have not been guaranteed and had we performed in a lackluster, carefree and non-professional way than it would jeopardize to a great extent the amount of money (if any!) that we would get paid that night.
Not to mention, the chances of us getting future gigs!
