am i doing it right?

I restrung my ibanez 4string bass for the first time,I wrapped it counter clockwise around the post,it sounds ok,is that wrong?how important is it too the bass if it's strung that way?please help me!!!

He was not asking you if the headstock has the same configuration he was asking you if the strings go the same way around the tuner posts.

I wrapped the "e","a",clockwise and the "d","g" counter clockwise so that they wrap towards the center of the headstock

It sounds like you did it the opposite of the way it should be strung.

You can reuse the strings without an issue.

Take the tension off the strings to avoid damaging the nut (the "bridge" that the strings pass over as they leave the fretboard towards the tuners). Now! Run Forrest, RUN!

You didn't hurt anything. If left on there over time it could cause cause undue wear to the nut but that would take much longer than two weeks.

To make things easy on you. Always remember when stringing a bass to keep the strings to the inside of the tuning key post on the headstock and you can't go wrong.
