am i playing my ashdown 5 15 too loud?

i use this with my band for practise and very small gigs and i only have the volume setting on about 3/4 at max with a low gain level but the dial on the front is often going into the red zone if i use at all bassy frequencies and im just worried that i could be possibly damaging my amp. P.S i am using a steriling ray 34 which is active if that makes a sence

That's right. Your speaker can move only so much before it bottoms out. Mine have about 9mm excursion, I think, if that gives you any idea. The more lows you want to hear at a certain volume the less headroom you have. Oh, your amp may be smiling away, but your speakers could start to melt down.
