am i the only one?

I've broken strings, but not often, especially now that I've been very slowly learning "dynamics". In very many things I tend to be heavy-handed and sloppy, and it takes me a lot of time to learn finesse.

Years back when I was young and stupid I played a bass solo with one of the drummers sticks and a beer bottle, basically making horrendous noise plying an odd kind of slide bass.

I beat the tar out of the bass, and broke a couple strings. Since then I've grown up. Haven't broke a bass string in 35 years. Must be because now I'm old and stupid.

Hey man, in some circles that will make you an artistic genius. I'd love to see you tape some beer bottles to your fingers.

40 years of playing I have broken only 2 strings, fortunately never at a gig.
But I have always had another set in my gigbag, whether a new pack or back when I was a poor, starving musician I 'd keep my last set.
Never had to use them on my bass but they did come in handy to repair our van one dark and stormy night in the middle of nowhere. :D
