Am I Wrong??

I need some decent power for my bass. My Ampeg BA115 just ain't cutting it. I figure I need at least 300W. I had 350 in a band about 15 years ago but that rig is long gone. Plus it was a full stack 4x10 on top of a 15.

Can't move that much gear any more due to a bad labrum but the Fender Rumble 500 combo got my attention. But I don't immediately think of Fender when I think of hard rock/metal. Am I wrong?

Get the 500 combo & a matching 2x10" cabinet.

I'd want at least 410 or 215 for metal. 300w or thereabouts would probably be good enough for it, but bigger cabs than a 210 or 115 will help you out even more.

Watts don’t make noise; drivers in cabinets do. If you want loud, you need lots of drivers pushing lots of air. That’s where the watts come in.

A 2x2x10 vertical stack gives you four tens. 500w should do it. Also pick up an adjustable HPF.

Fenders are light and loud. The HPF protects the speakers and cleans up the low end at volume.

I have a rumble 200. I dont really play modern metal much, but i play more classic metal a bit etc. i didnt like it for that. Until i got a tonehammer di pedal. I think with a good di in front of it, its fine. But if its just going to be by itself, theres better options.

Thats just for my taste, im sure plenty disagree. The Rumble with the THDI is a great sound though

Gigging this coming weekend - 500c with the 210 extension cab. I use a Broughton ATD 12AX7, a Broughton Super Stack and a Broughton HP Filter, along with an Aguilar TLC and Grizzly Bass to get the most awesome tone.

I’m so loving the Fender Rumble stuff. Just love the lighter weight and massive bass tone this rig gets.

I just couldn’t believe how loud that little mother effer got. I thought it would crap out super early but I kept cranking and cranking, still a super clean signal. I had to push it well beyond my uses in order to get it to start farting. With an extension cab I imagine it’s unstoppable for its size!

I use the HP Filter just before the amp input, after effects - not in the loop. You want it to do it's magic before it hits the amp preamp and poweramp.

Fenders have a baked in vintage tone, you want metal, go GK, grab an MB212 combo for a full 500w of boom and growl on tap, or go with any of their head/cab rigs, I play metal, GK is all I use...a pair of MBF800s pushing a pair of NEO212s mostly, occasionally swapping one 212 for a 115.

GK MB212 combo, w/MBP 212 extension.
500W, 212s...w/extension, another 500W 212s...1000W 412s.
Bump the treble, mids where you want, straight-up bass, engage the horn and Limiter, boost as needed/desired. Hot knife through butter, Studioline cover, done.
Wear hearing protection.
Gigged it/them with very LOUD Post-HC/HC/Punk band. All day, and all of the night. 212 combo is plenty in most situations, both are MORE than enough.

Sure, there are lots of HPF pedals. Did you search for 'HPF pedal for bass'? I don't use one so I don't know if they're bass specific but I doubt it.

Yes...yes you are. I regularly gig a Rumble 500 combo stacked on the 210 extension cab and it is super awesome for rock, classic rock, hard rock, and ROCK! Not sure about metal, but we do a few Volbeat songs
and it sounds great...Oh, and the whole thing weighs 75 lbs. total!
