Fender Rumble Club

Here's how I feel about my Fender Rumble 115 extension cabinet:

*LOVE the way the 115 adds depth/deep tone. Well balanced with the 800c.

*And now that the grills match, looks awesome to my eye.

*An overlooked benefit of adding any cab: The position of the 800 controls are better for me with the combo on top of the 115. Less bending down and less wear on this ol' man's back.

Well people! I went out and tested my new 200 combo last night. I was invited to do a few tunes by a local rock band. I was hesitant but the bassist said to bring my stuff and we will have a good time! I have not been on a stage since the early 90s although I did a small gig for a few songs at a bar quite a while back. The gig was a benefit for my wife who is on the kidney transplant list at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Everyone was quite impressed with the 200 and my bass which is a Fender Precision Select. I made a few mistakes but nobody cared! One of the best compliments I had all night is when one of the guitarists told somebody that I was the one responsible for their careers and where they are now. I am going to be 63 and these guys are in their late 40s! The venue was a medium size hall and the Fender went right to the sound system. We had a hoot!

Whatever you have that will patch in - music played thru a Rumble while switching the horn on and off will clearly demonstrate if it's working or not...
TBH, I never thought about that with the 200c. Not a factor with the R40, which I've been using lately.(I run the CD player through my amp on breaks)

Some great support from Fender U.K. I wanted to tell you guys about. I wrote and asked them if they could point me in the right direction to obtain replacement knobs and a grille logo badge for a Rumble 500 combo I recently bought. The knobs had yellowed noticeably and were sticky and the badge was cracked. Neither item is listed on Fender’s online shop, or anywhere else I checked out. Fender sent me replacements in the post, free of charge. I’m so impressed with this level of service. This is the first Fender item I’ve ever owned and I’m pretty sure it won’t be the last.

A question about the Rumble overdrive feature - if I’m playing my Rumble 500 and then engage the ‘overdrive’ switch on the amp’s control panel, with the overdrive ‘level’ knob set fully anti-clockwise, all the sound disappears, even though the ‘master’ volume knob is not set at zero. Turning the ‘level’ knob clockwise from zero produces sound again. It’s like the overdrive ‘level’ knob overrides the ‘master’ volume knob. Is this normal?

Thanks for posting this. It is great (and re-assuring) to hear that Fender stands behind their products :thumbsup:!

Yes it is.
Since the extra gain can cause the volume to increase, the Level knob is there for you to set the volume when Drive is on.

I mistakenly took the Level for a Mix knob when I first got my Rumble 40, but the owner's manual straightened me out. Have you read yours?

Thanks for your reply. Like you, I thought the overdrive level knob set the blend between the dry instrument signal and the overdriven signal and the master volume controlled the output of this blend plus all other eq settings. I don’t have an owner’s manual, as I bought my Rumble 500 combo second hand. Good to know the amp isn’t malfunctioning, and I love the sound it produces, but I’m still not entirely clear why the level knob appears to override the master volume?
