Amazing Jack Bruce fretless solo

That was cool.

I know Cream is a legendary band that laid the ground work for power trios and blues rock stuff and that’s what a lot of people will remember Jack for.

But I think the best place to hear Jack’s musicianship is the jazz rock stuff he was doing in the 70s with his solo material. Really inspired playing and singing there.
I always thought his best stuff was with WBL.

I agree; while Cream may have been innovative in its moment, established his career, and his fortunes, the band had its limitations. Some time ago, I got out the “Those Were The Days” boxset, but trying to get through the live stuff, it was just boring. Not Jack himself, but the overall thing(and it also reminded me how overrated Clapton is).

His solo stuff and collaborations were far more fascinating and a deeper/wider showcase for his talents. I posted a separate thread for this clip, it just popped up on YT, but in case you didn’t see it…
