Amazing!
I drove thru Dunalley (small town south-east of Hobart- where I live ) the other day. .. it was virtually wiped out from the fires there 4 yrs ago. Incredible to see the multitude of empty blocks, or blocks with just a chimney left etc. .. right next to an old 19th century house that's still standing. ..untouched by the fires. Suffice to say, there ain't many old buildings there at all
This is a famous pic that was taken that day. ..of a family "hiding" in the canal that runs right thru Dunalley town. Apparently the air temp was over 65°C at this time

The Gondwana World Heritage Rainforests at Werrikimbe National Park in northern New South Wales contain the most significant stands of Nothofagus moorei rainforests in the world. The environments are cool, dark and wet yet they contain an abundance of ancient life forms, especially bryophytes and primitive plant families. Our long term monitoring program aims to create the ideal climate adaptation laboratory. Invalid Link Removed

Flowing again. Sue Jaggar. Apsley Falls, Walcha, NSW. Nikon D800.
Apsley Falls is within the Oxley Wild Rivers National Park. A lack of rain over many years had reduced the falls to a trickle, however in the past month significant rainfall has restored the falls to their former glory. This also impacts on the ecosystems that are within the National Park, as well as in surrounding areas. Invalid Link Removed
