Just another friendly winter street shot!

I remember seeing a pic of Crater Lake in a book when I was in the 5th grade. Wow. I'll have to see that someday. I did!

More Crater Lake pics. First pic is at the Peyton Bridge over Lost Creek Lake on OR62. Next five are the Rogue River Gorge about a mile south of the OR62-OR230 junction. If you are in the area stop at Beckie's Cafe for pie . The next bunch is Crater Lake. The last six are Upper Klamath Lake and Mt McLoughlin along US97. The rest are Mt Shasta. The first pic of Shasta is from about 50 miles away.

I was going to have a good friend who is an accomplished artist do a portrait of us in an Impressionist style for our 45th anniversary next year. He said stopped doing portraits as I imagine people complained about the results. I told him he could do them in a Cubist style then there would be no room for anyone to say it doesn't look like them.

Anyways, he suggested looking at computer apps that can take a pic and apply effects to get a result. There are a bunch out there some free, some not. I found Corel Photo-Paint on the Microsoft store. There is a free trial then $295. I did a few pics and the results are pretty cool but not 295 cool. People pics start looking pretty weird if the intensity is higher. Corel does all sorts of effects as well. Here are a few that I converted along with the original pics. The cat and the scooter are pretty good. The pic of us kinda so-so. No substitute for the real thing on a portrait.

Here is the friends website. He taught middle school art for a number of years then retired a few years ago.

We have one of his paintings similar to this one.
