The drumming coming from up there on full-moon nights was cool.
My father-in-law had a home about 1/2 mile from there for years (“Back ‘o Beyond” neighborhood).
Nowadays they won’t let you even drive down to LOOK at the parking lot (due to the crazy-busy nature of Sedona nowadays), instead, there are now shuttles from town.
That's too bad you just can't go up there on a whim anymore. The price of "civilization"
My wife and I will do hikes in our general area, but nothing around here comes close to what we saw hiking in Sedona a few years ago. “Natural beauty” doesn’t seem to do it justice.
It is a superb area for hiking and biking. In any other state, Sedona would be a National Park.

I wish I still had the pictures I took on that Sedona trip. My home NAS got hacked early last year and the entire disk set was encrypted by ransomware. I had backups of the most critical stuff and lost the rest, but there was no freaking way I was giving those scumbags any money to make the hit worth their effort.
