Although they appear dark and storm-like, they almost always dissipate without a storm forming. The ominous-looking clouds have been particularly common in the Plains states of the US, often during the morning or midday hours following convective thunderstorm activity.

Hey, my hometown. I have been there many times.
Last year, I was interviewed by the local transit authority for a Marketing Director job, which would have included managing the Johnstown Inclined Plane. I did not take the job.
