Externsteine, in the north of Germany, has been a sacred site since prehistoric times, first used by pagans and later on by Christians. Externsteine consists of five enormous limestone pillars that are in astronomical alignment.

Þrídrangar lighthouse is a lighthouse located on the southern coast of Iceland, near the town of Vík. It is situated on a small island called Þrídrangaviti, which is connected to the mainland by a footbridge. The lighthouse was built in 1939 and is still in use today, providing navigation assistance to ships and boats in the area. Þrídrangar lighthouse is a popular tourist attraction and is known for its beautiful location and views of the surrounding area.
The Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival, in China's Heilongjiang province, begins today with all the spectacle and fanfare you'd expect from the world's largest festival of its kind. Big, bold, and beautiful, the event features more than 2,000 ice sculptures made from 240,000 cubic yards of ice collected by nearly a thousand workers from the nearby Songhua River. Many of the sculptures are illuminated with colored lights, creating a vibrant, glowing world of ice. It's estimated the colorful sights attract more than 18 million visitors each year. The event, which runs through late February, also features alpine skiing, cold water swimming in the aforementioned Songhua, as well as a festive ice lantern show.

They call it a "bomb cyclone."
Not to sound insensitive (and I'm not insensitive about it; I live in northern California), but "Bomb Cyclone" would be a cool band name.
My 2 young boys wanted to play outside for a bit before the rain came in at about 4:30 yesterday. The sky looked unreal.
