The photo was an image I found in a search as I didn't have one of my own. It's Mexico IIRC.We used to have a huge one in the back garden before the fire (and have a seedling from that tree replanted - it's about 6' right now).
Here's the pros and cons of Jacaranda:
+ Very pretty
+ Provides lovely shade
+ Grows quickly
- Drops the pretty flowers, which turn brown on the ground after a couple of hours, and can stain concrete if wet (like tea).
- Drops the leaves - which, although they resemble fern fronds when on the branch, are individually about 1/4" long X 1/8" wide. And there are lots of them.
Clean up is a B****. Pretty, though.
Many streets in California are lined with them, which is spectacular.
