the reason i don’t like dirt after a volume pedal is noise. if you have the dirt on and have the volume pedal before it, the noise from the od is really evident *and* the signal doesn’t hit the od pedal with the right amount of force (imo).

For some reason I love this pic. My hands and my tools.

I'm really fond of ambient music. Electro of course but smooth jazz and progressive forms also are appealing.
There just is something great about doing your stuff in the corner of a bar or under a bridge, not trying to grab attention from the audience.
Sometimes people fall into your stuff and it really is gratifying. Like sometimes people will randomly start dancing at what you play. I once had people who started singing over a loop.
Most of the time though I'm just a part of the background and it is just fine.

I managed to get rid of the computer for live sessions. It's now all hardware and quite simple :

Bass (either fretless or short scale semi hollow) -> Source Audio Multiwave distortion -> Zoom B3 with expression pedal -> EHX Freeze -> Output 1
Korg Volca Sample -> Ibanez LF-7 -> Output 2
Arturia Microfreak with mic -> Korg AX3000B -> Output 3
A Wounded Paw Blender mixes the 3 sources.

I make live loops with the B3, ideally I'd like to sync them with the synths but I don't have a way for now. The Korg can do it but the live looper on it is really short, esdsentially a hold delay.

great advice from @steubig . I have come to prefer a volume pedal before overdrive/distortion, but after fuzz. Also distortion after delay or verb can be wild.

Yeah, I played a little bit with heavy distortion after heavy verb, and it was pretty sweet. A constant nasty, heavy rumble that was just cool.

Pigtronix Cosmosis Reverb. Looks like you can morph between two presets and set the morph time/rate.

$219 on sweetwater seems pretty reasonable.

New bass was great at dad band practice. Sounded great, played great.

The only issue I’m having is my H90 keeps freezing up. Three times in the last two nights.

I have to take my SVT 4 pro to the shop, it was having issues when pushing the front end.
Some sort of cracking, fizz noise.
Hope it’s not an expensive fix.
Happens at the perfect moment since I have a gig this Saturday

It occurs to me maybe my power supply is crap, so I will try another one next week. At least then I can just send it to them and say “here, you fix it.”

Cleaned it, now in top shape.

I just want to take a moment to admire the looks of the SVT-4. And they sound great, too. Too much hoss for my current needs, of course.
