Ambient/Post-Rock/Textural bass playing thread

The music has no application here, but I finished my first live solo jam on the Elektron Model:Cycles. The music is kinda dumb, but I think it's a really fun box to play live with. Lots of fun performance options

Cool. Keep on practicing. If the live tweaking is dope!!!!

You think that's dumb.....like at my mess of crap. Upper right is my sampler and jmt synths. No room for the mixers there on the floor.

Jeez.....I'm worse than a 16 yo kid.

Nice sounds. Doesn't sound "dumb" to me; actually, it's kind of IDM-ish, which is supposed "intelligent" dance music. Maybe it's a new genre: intelligent dumb music.

Anyway, doesn't sound different enough from the Machinedrum or Monomachine for me to consider buying, but at their price, those Model grooveboxes are very attractive.

I know the answer before I ask but here we go:

Any genius ideas on how to take a mixer out and turn it to instrument level to use pedals other than a reamp box or reversed passive di???

Turn the mixer's main level really low? That's basically what I do. Of course, some pedals handle this better than others.

New synth. Who dis?

I'm missing something here :/

If I had a MachineDrum or MonoMachine I seriously doubt I would've popped for the Model:Cycles. If anything, it makes me Jones harder for them!
The M:C has a couple tricks the MD doesn't, but the MD has a ton of tricks the M:C doesn't.
The price was just too tempting for me to pass up. And while I adore my Octatrack and eurorack setup, it can be refreshing to just grab this one little box and quickly work up ideas

It's a reference to the "new phone, who dis" thing the kids say.
It means I don't recognize who is sending me a message because I don't recognize your number on my new phone (because transferring contacts is hard these days?).
In this case, it means I don't recognize your sounds because they are new.
Now that I've explained my failed joke, I'll leave :bag:

Haha!

I just love that he has a dirty, nasty stove with an old keyboard on it. And flowers because...why not flowers? Like some sort of instrument you'd find in Bartertown from Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome.
Gotta give the dude props for being original and trying stuff. He has plenty of other vids.
Some of those sounds he's getting frying the mic are actually kinda cool to me.

Also gloves and a welding shield. I wonder how toxic his "music" room is lol.

There's no doubt he thinks outside the box, that's for sure. I just can't imagine the mess that would make. And the safety hazards.

He just made more music on that vid then plenty of dudes here on TB today. No "should I flip this bass and a poll what color knobs"....He got up, made a mess and probably had a blast doing it. I know I liked watching.

Gloves and mask, safety first. Hahaha
