cool. seems like it’s already making sense.

are you using an external sequencer? interesting degrading sounds towards the end. how did you do that?

I sequenced it with a Keystep Pro, mostly. Sequenced some with the Octatrack and played the bass part live while it was going into the DAW.
The degrading sound is from the main chordal sequence. Set up the mod matrix with an LFO to...something, can’t remember, but when you crank the LFO speed while reversing the phase of an operator, crazy stuff happens

Did my first real jam on the EssenceFM synth today. Everything on that one synth at the same time. The tune ain’t anything special, but I like the synth

Gives me an 80s Jan Hammer kind of vibe there. Or Tangerine Dream's Optical Race album.

4 *tracks* per limb.
no ebow action.
one gimmick i use is to record a pass of something (here a 12-string pattern, some 12-string harmonics and also a hydra thing) and have it panned hard in one direction and have its reverse panned in other direction. texture . . .

swells = bass through elements with low eq plus volume pedal swells. sometimes doubled with a reverse of low notes decaying.

i use form. here it's basically (with a few transition bits borrow from other sections):
a-b-c-b'-a'-d-e-d'-c-b''-a''-c' (coda)

Bitwig looks kinda cool to me. A cv lot of folks into modular/eurorack seem to be gravitating toward it.
I think Logic is really good. Been using it a long time

New version of logic seems like an excellent daw.

Unfortunately I left mac in the dust.
So it's not an option for me. Might give Reaper a 2349493 chance.

But ill end up going back to ableton I know it.

Bitwig looks kinda cool to me. A cv lot of folks into modular/eurorack seem to be gravitating toward it.
I think Logic is really good. Been using it a long time

and a lot of their devs came from abelton.

akaik, bitwig and logic are both mpe compatible for sequencing. i don’t do sequencing now, but you never know.

i’ve worked in both pc and mac. mac fits me better.

i have a very knowledgeable friend who is really into reaper.

akaik, they have short-term free licensing (right term?) that allows you to try it out.

As previously mentioned I tried reaper about.....10 -15 times now only to go back to ableton.....for lack of patience on my part.

Left Mac cuz the hardware is too $$ and "almost" impossible to upgrade.

The "good" part of it is that it is relatively stable running a Mac OS despite not being an Apple device. This would allow you to run Logic without buying a Mac. It isn't my area of expertise, but apparently not all non-Apple machines are equal when trying to do this. My buddy testing this out claimed the one I linked is as powerful as the top of the line Mac Mini, but half the price. The form factor is pretty similar. Time will tell how well this works.
