Ambient/Post-Rock/Textural bass playing thread

atm the main delay sounds are coming from the red panda particle and tensor (granular delay and tape-stop/reverse/time manipulator) and they're great, really weird textual sounds to be had, im still lacking in the reverb department so i've been using some of the reverb sounds in the EQD sea machine chorus.

what about you man? or have you yet to go down the rabbit hole ;)

I've been curious about that tensor, how useful has it been for you.
Right now I'm using an EAE laggard into and Avalanche Run; further down the chain I'm using a meris polymoon and then a DD3. I wouldn't mind replacing the DD3 with something cooler like the tensor, but I also like having a basic delay.

the tensor is pretty neat, its got lots of interesting glitched out sounds in it plus the looping stuff is cool. id say i mostly use it for a reversed, slowed down, pitched up repeat sorta thing with a relatively low blend, it adds some nice textual reverse reverb style things, not unlike a crystals delay effect. you might want to wait for the v2 of the particle to come out, they're doing a newer model with presets and more functionality so if you were looking for something that can to weird stuff but dont want to lose the quasi-standard delay sounds that might be more up ur ally but you wouldn't have the looping stuff i dont think

Super curious what delays and reverb pedals you all are using...

I'm just starting my board, but I'm using an EQD Dispatch Master.. love it.. been looking to add either a Strymon DIG, or JHS Pink Panther, now called the Lucky Cat... or maybe the verb and delay from Meris.. Merris. However it's spelled.. I like the videos I've seen of those.. plus I have a Broughton Terraformer for dirty gritty yumminess

Who knows about this box/company?
Neunaber - US made, tails, stereo, good size, reasonable price.

I've heard of them, been checking them out. Not sure about the Immerse, but what vids I've seen on their WET reverb sounds amazing. My guess is this sounds just as great.. I've thought about their Iconoclast for guitar

I've been interested in the Crazy Tube Circuit stereo reverb, since I love the mono version in my synth, but the stereo is big and expensive. The Immerse seems way more reasonable, particularly if it sounds epic.

I have a stereo Neunaber Wet that is actually quite amazing, I believe you can load any algorithm Neunaber has made into it via the USB port. I did just purchase what will likely replace it today, a Source Audio Venrtis. I wanted a Strymon Big Sky for a few years, but went with the Source audio after trying out both....
I have the Wet up in the classifieds actually, 100 less current new cost...
edit: Wow, that Neunaber sold for my asking price in less than 24 hours. Hmmm.... will I regret it?

Your pedal is what got me looking at these.
From what I can see, the shimmer, echo, and reverb boxes which are mono have USB and they can be programmed to handle any of the three functions. The Immerse is a stereo box and doesn't have a USB, and the Expanse is the programmable stereo box. That might get my cash.

Edit - the videos I’m seeing seem to indicate there are a few different pedal generations floating around. So, features may have changed a bit.

If I'm not mistaken, the Wet is the same as the Expanse- a programmable stereo box.

All of the above :)

I only just found this thread, here is a video with some average playing that I rushed for a competition last year kinda as a starting point so I can look back and see where i've progressed too in 5 years, I was using a digitech polara + obscura along with delays, reverbs drives and a bunch of other stuff in a Boss MS-3. Unfortunately for now the digitech pedals have been replaced with more practical things on my board, but a bigger board is coming soon. Now I shall go back and enjoy reading this thread from the beginning.

Welcome to the party :)
Nice playing.
