the soundcloud thing was sort of a throw-off since we were talking surprises.
i’ve printed out about half of the manuals and i’m into *at least* 100 pages. the mn tutorials on youtube are very helpful.

I forces you to use another part of the brain.
Forces deep listening and reaction to spontaneous "accidents ".
Music by définition....for me....is inherently imperfect. Imo....etc.....
On second listen, parts sound very "orchestral" - I especially like the sound that is revealed around 2:30 that sounds kind of like a glockenspiel playing Gamelan patterns. Was that random or composed? That's my favorite thing about the Subharmonicon - there is a certain amount of conscious selection and an equal if not great amount of serendipity.

it's basically four different things.
the gamelan-ish part is actually my playing the app that has gamelan samples (gender lite) into the mn morphagene and then mangling it and finding my "happy place."
the lower-end thing is basically the same process, but with another sampled set (i think it's 12-string bass played in the air to my iphone).
then some oscillator stuff in two different channels.
process was to improvise a mix with faders straight into abelton. add some reverb.
in a certain way this is sort of controlled generative stuff (cf our earlier thread about that).
at some point i figure to some bass nonsense into this sort of thing.

i was talking to a friend the other day, and she and i were discussing leaving in imperfections that we would normally clean up. kinda goes against my teutonic nature, but i'm trying to embrace that.

When I went to go get my Covid booster the other day I also got a vaccine that prevents one from getting into modular. Might not save lives but definitely saves marriages.
i had one of those and forgot to get the booster.
(we've been married so long, she already knows that i'm nuts and does her best to ignore me.)

Oh, just been busy with work (the money-making kind, not the musical kind). Been mostly woodshedding on fretless, working the realbook, and trying to get my synth mojo back up and running (it usually does with the cold weather). I'm putting most of my upcoming creative focus on getting an actual release together for the duo, and I'm not gonna move on to other things until I do it. That'll show me.

They really need to call it the ORGASMIC synthesizer, based on how much people seem to love it.
Spent an hour with it today between runs.
I had no idea what I was doing or what was happening.
It was a freakin blast and time flew by like secs.
I think this is promising.
