...That reminds me very much of Kool And The Gang - obviously it is more important to the guys to get their moves on stage right than their playing and so they just mime to what's coming from tape?!Originally posted by Comics
... I was sidestage from where Verdine was, and it was hard to tell how much of the playing was live, or possibly pre-recorded or covered by keyboards...
Not quite, it's "Milli Vanilli" - sad story, the one about those guys...Originally posted by J. from Samsara Hmmmmmmmm, Milli Vinilli anyone? ... IS that how it is spelled, I never liked them anyway.

Yeah ok, I think I had chosen the wrong words, it's not really like the whole music is coming from tape, but it's supported by sequencers and stuff like that. I once saw Kool And The Gang live on TV, and although there was a guy with a bass guitar on stage the bass lines were definitely keyboard ones!Originally posted by Brad Johnson I have a Kool & The Gang DVD at the House of Blues. They're playing.
Yeah, I thought so too! He dances around way too much to be able to play so tightly. Plus his left hand barely moves on the neck!! And that's even at least 10 years ago. I have a DVD of EW&F in Japan and he just can't be dancing around like that and playing too.Originally posted by jerry
Sadly....Verdine plays mostly to to tracks these days![]()

A few years ago, HBO used to have Sinbad's Old School funk specials every summer....with Gap band, Teena Marie etc. All of them had kick ass live bands, with kick ass bassplayers....I miss that show![]()
