American Made Kramer Aluminum DMZ624

I have a late 70's early 80's Kramer bass that I picked up from the original owner a few years ago. He informed me that he purchased it new for $1049.00 in 81 and had a new Badass bridge installed. The receipt names the bass as a DMZ624 and I have looked all over for information on this Kramer model and have found nothing. I was told to give this site a shot. 24 frets short scale aluminum neck with wood inlay.

Post some pictures, other wise, there are only about a dozen or so possibilities.

$1049 in 81? that sounds a bit steep, but i'll buy that.

It most likely is a DMZ4000 or DMZ5000, but otherwise, with out pictures, i can't say for sure.

There is no such thing as a "DMZ426" Bass Model. 426 COULD be the Serial number but most of the bass serial numbers were four digit codes proceeded by a A or B prefix, with a few other letters. In fact, my 81 Kramer LUMIE is A46**.

But Kramer was NOTORIOUSLY bad about serial numbers.

That could be because he thinks he has a DMZ624, not a 426.

Still, I've never heard of a 624. Could possibly be a 6000 series, but then it would be a DMZ6000B.

No. Actually the DMZ designation stands for DiMarzio pickups, which the DMZ series was equipped with.

then is there any designation to the similarity to his weird model number and my same serial # even though mine's a junk woodenneck because I've been all over vintageKramer and I can't find a pic of mine anywhere

I had a DMZ 4000. Nice bass. Simple design,,sigh....I wish I'd have kept it.

Now, 420 ( ) and 720 model bass, sure!
