american standard precision, quick question

Does the Fender American Standard Precision have both the string through and string through the back bridge.
If so, when using "fatter" strings such as flats, should all of the strings be put through the bridge the same way or could the smaller DG strings come from through the body and the EA from the top? I'm talking about strings like the Roto's RS77LD's. Thanks.

Yes they have both options.

I gave an American Series P-Bass, which i string through body Fender Flats ML (.50-.100)

So it really depends how long the string is and if it clears the nut if u string thru.

Do you know if it's ok to do the EA over the top and the DG thru on bigger strings like flats?
The reason I'm asking is I got a precision today and I changed the stock strings to Roto's RS77LD flats. When I put them on it seems to have lost some of it's bottom boom. I was thinking of just changing the E string to over the top.

The stock E string on the AM St. is .110 but is tapered at the bridge end so it sits lower on your action thus is closer to the pickup. But dont forget the strings are different so...

I can't change the Roto's to top load. I just checked and the red wrap around the headstock end would not slide through far enough to go through the nut.
In your post about being closer to the pick up, you think if I raised the pickup a little it may help or maybe adjust the "E" saddle a little lower?

I have my '08 P strung through the body with Chromes. I just trimmed back the silks a bit with a razor blade knife so they cleared the nut. But if and when I ever change them, I'll just string them through the bridge.

The ferrules were a little loose when I got it. Rather than take the time to glue in the ferrules so they wouldn't slip out, I just strung through the body. But when I got my '08 Jazz, I just dabbed a little wood glue on the ferrules and put them back in. Now they're solid and won't fall out. So I have the Jazz strung through the bridge so I didn't have to trim back the silks.

I didn't even check the ferrules. I better make sure mine aren't loose. When you switched strings from stock, did you have to make any bridge or pickup adjustments? The chromes are flats right?
I don't know what I was thinking. If I put the string in "over the top" it would actually lengthen the string and the wrap would go through the nut just fine.

Yes, the silks will clear the nut if you string through the bridge.

I had to do a set-up on both of my '08's when I first got them. Minor stuff, but it made a big difference from the stock set-up. I tweaked the truss rod just a bit on both; adjusted the action to how I like it, etc. I raised the E side of the pickup on my P bass because when I got it, it was almost level with the bass. No room to anchor my thumb. And I always re-check and adjust the intonation if necessary whenever I change the strings. But they sure do play and sound good now.

And oh yes, the Chromes are flats (D'Addario).

I thought about lowering the saddle on the E since the strings I put on are so much bigger. The stock strings had the taper on the bridge end.

Do all American Standard Precision basses bodies have string-through option ??? Especially those made in 2006 ???
My (AM-ST) Precision V has string through. The high-mass vintage bridge allows for either. I just do the string through thing, never had an issue with string length though I have settled on DR Low Rider nickels or DR Sunbeams. I just like the nickel feel & they seem (to me) to last longer than steel.
