American Standard

I own a 2014 Am.Std Precision & it's a great bass, only things I added was flatwounds & straplocks.
What a bummer! They look like real solid basses. Hipshot tuners, Custom Shop 60s pups, high mass vintage bridge (string through or top load option). I would really like to take one of these for a test drive.
Personally, I'm hoping for their "New Coke" experiment to finish and Fender to relaunch the American Standard Line.
They were made from 2008 to 2016 with a pickup change to Custom Shop pups in 2012. There are thousands and thousands of them out in the wild. I'm sure there's a bunch in the TB classifieds and hoards more on ebay, CL and Reverb. Pretty easy to find one if you want to.
Shouldn't be that har to find used - plenty of them in the wild. I have a 2014 American Standard, and it's great. 
I picked up an American Standard V P this past winter and it has quickly has become my main player. For years I've been a modern active or Jazz Bass-style player. Take that for what you will.
FWIW, the American Standards were released in 2008, replacing the "American Series", and in 2017 was in turn replaced by the "American Professional." I'm not sure when the American Series was introduced, but likely around the same time they started production in Mexico. There is no "new Coke," they're the same thing with a name change. They did the same thing they've always done, and the same thing they're now doing to the Standards/Players.
So, you're saying that the new American Players series has the same features as the Standards?
These Player Series basses look like junk compared to what the Standards had to offer (parts-wise). Of course, the price point reflects this.

No, I didn't say that.
The American Series had thick coats of poly paint, large tuners, and very mediocre pickups. The bridges were pretty cool though. I owned one complete 2006 model, and one late 90s-early 00s that had a replacement neck.
The American Standards were phased into the market in late 2007 and announced at 2008 NAMM. They had a thinner coat of poly paint on the bodies, new smaller tuners, new two piece bridges, and new pickups vs the American Series. I owned two, almost three, the first one I bought in March 2008, the second one in 2010 when the 2008 was stolen. I kept the 2010 for a few weeks and returned it, replacing it with a '57 AVRI.
The American Professionals were introduced in 2017 and they have a new fret design and new pickups, with the same bridge and tuners as the American Standards. Not sure about the finish. I haven't bought one of these. Yet.
There isn't a new American Player Series. There is a Player series, which replaces the Standards, both which are made in Mexico. For a while, there were Standards (Mexican made) and American Standards (California made).

I got mine (2015) used about 10 months ago, after they were already out of production and replaced by the new lineup. I'd always wanted an American Standard, but was never entirely comfortable (or just downright uncomfortable) justifying the price to myself. After they discontinued them though, and raised the price on the replacement series to boot, I was like, screw it, I'm not getting upsold. I always wanted an American Standard and that's what I'm a-gettin'!
