Amp budgeting

Hey guys I wasnt sure were to put this but feel free to move it.
Basically I would like a new amp, a proper rig if you like. I currently have a 12" marshall combo (65w) that does the job but sometimes fails to really work at the volume I need. I currently have no gigs, just occasionally practice (we were gigging) so I was wondering is it actually worth me saving up and buying a setup, or waiting till the band has some gigs lined up. Then comes the question of financing it. Do I save up or put it on finance (im 18 with an apprenticeship).
