Amp Cab suggestion

Hello guys,
I have a Genz Benz shuttle 6.2 and am looking for a cab under $400. The GB is a little too much for my budget. How about the Ampeg PF115HE? I've played these with an PF500 head and I liked it.
I'm new here so I can't wait to jump in and learn some things from ya'll. I'm an older drummer and guitar player so I am a novice on the Bass and am craving some insight :)

I'm an older guy that plays vintage rock.....Pink Floyd, Beatles, etc.. I also play contemporary Christian music at Church. Seats about 350 people but could go through PA if needed. I have a Schecter Bass with a single PUP. Nothing fancy, one of their cheaper ones.
Yeah, I'm OK at woodworking....Don't have a router or lathe but just the simple tools....saws and stuff.
Thanks guys!

The PF-115HE cabinets are, IMHO, great sounding, sealed, 1-15" driver loaded cabinets.

Just don't expect to play it at heavy metal volumes.

At some of our smaller/lower volume jobs, I've run my one 115HE powered with my G.K. MB2-500 head with good results.

Do a T.B. search, there's been several threads on the Ampeg PF-115HE cabinet.

Stay with your G.B. head and stay away from the PF-500 heads.......(I've had two of them burn-out on me.)
Great sounding but "very" unreliable heads.

+1 on a little more info needed. Also what area do you live in? I've always found it best to try out new gear if possible. For starters used gear is a good value if in good condition. I see all sorts of 4x10 and 2X15 cabs on CL for pretty cheap. Mostly because they're heavy and people like newer lighter gear.

Hi everyone,

I am also seeking some advice on selecting an expansion cab. I am currently using an Ashdown ABM 500 EVO III Combo with 2 10in speakers that has been very versatile and reliable to date, but as we are now progressing to playing larger venues I have been considering an additional cab to unlock the amps full potential.

I have been reading up on the MAG vs ABM cab ranges, and there's many different opinions on this, although between the two I would personally settle for the ABM. What would be the better buy, a 210 or a 115?

Also, is it more beneficial to stick with the Ashdown brand while extending the rig, or would anyone actually recommend going for another cab brand completely? If so, what's your opinion?

I play with a fair amount of top end with a funky, punchy twang, but also use a Boss ME-50B pedal for extra kick in the overdrive and fuzz department if that helps any with your suggestions.

Thanks for reading guys, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ditto on used gear. Just for grins, I looked on my local Craigslist site and there are several cabs that would meet your criteria. A GB 112 for $300, Ampeg 2-10 for $200, etc.

Check out the Talkbass classifieds also; cabs can be a bit trickier because of shipping costs, but for $3-350 you should be able to find something decent.

Nowadays there is lots available that would fit your needs without weighing too much. I just tried a GK 112 at another TB member's house last week, I was pretty impressed.

Good luck with your search!
