That's not empty space that's "tone" space. You need all of it.

Maybe it got there because they put it on a vibration table and founds some potential points of mechanical stress that need some damping and/or reinforcement?

Why not just coat the whole PCB with the stuff and call it a day, just to make sure.
Got this for $75, using it at practice with a Peavey 15" Black widow cab that I got for $100. Brought it home to blow out the dust and check it over and fix the mid sweep potentiometer. Was pretty impressed with its sound.

Seems to be a bit overkill on the RTV. I design electronics for aviation (i.e. need to be ultra-reliable and resistant to vibration) and I wouldn't bother speccing RTV on caps that small. It is hard to apply neatly by hand.

Ok, I didn't feel like going though all 84 pages, so I'm hoping these aren't on here yet; first up, early 80's (?) Yamaha B100 II bass head; I love the way this sounds, but the one time I brought it to practice I had trouble hearing myself, so it's sat at home ever since; Trans seems way too small for a bass amp; it's like they used a bunch of old stereo components that had laying around to build them LOL; not bad for guitar though...
