Reiner Amplification Saturn V #02 flat out the best amp I have ever owned, and I've owned a lot!

Ha, the SVT-Pro 6... Did you had the fan issue?

Mine had a failed fan speed regulator and apparently it was a common unresolved issue.
Also, I kind of miss his power but I sold it because i found the EQ useless and the sound too dark.

So far no issues. Runs like a top and I've figured out the parametric EQ. Although I like the traditional Ampeg EQ setup better.
Power for miles for sure.
 
DIY B15-esque build: early 60's Ampeg preamp into 12BH7 LTPI with 12au7 parallel FX loop mixing together at the PI input. Poweramp is two octals @~470-500V B+ into 50W Edcor ultralinear transformer. CLC filtering with little NOS 1H/350ma Thorardson L and some big cheap modern "C" for the B+ line. Switchable cathode/fixed bias on front panel; both modes are UL.

Gotta nail down the bias circuit (white prototype terminal strip), maybe shift over the input tube and add a hiwatt-style DC driver for the LTP...

..yes, it is "backwards": chassis used to be a hanging-mount Peavey Pacer, and hosted another DIY amp that was re-gutted for this build, so I had to kinda work with the sockets and layout.

Don't know why I'm so fascinated by this stuff. The IRS2092 is a Class-D amplifier controller. The other 14- and 8-pin chips are probably op amps.

It's fun to skim through the datasheet for a component like this, just to see how much sophistication goes into these amps. But also, the sheer amount of additional circuitry shows that a lot of design intelligence is required of the person who uses one of these chips to make an amp that actually works well.

Also, the size of the heat sink shows that these things are efficient, but not 100% efficient. Providing even a wee bit of thermal mass and air circulation can mean the difference between running forever, and burning up on the launch pad.
