My 1965 Vox AC100 on the bench. Way back in time I think someone tried making a guitar amp out of the little beast. It has a 50W output transformer in it. I gigged with this thing for several years back in the 80s, early 90s. I’m going to rebuild it back to as near original as possible. I can actually get a new OT from Mercury I believe.

If you’re going to rebuild it rebuild it into something that actually sounds good.

Here is something different

My Behringer BX4500H Bass Amp expired mid gig with a total wipeout of the power amp. Uneconomic to repair.

The BX4500H pre-amp section is really good with plenty of features so decided to salvage it and use as a pre-amp for rack mounted power amps. Similar pre-amp to the BX3000T.

Removed the heavy toroidal transformer and replaced with a small LV power supply for the pre-amp and fan.

The fan is not really needed but left it in for looks and to fill the large hole.

The component and wiring layout used existing chassis holes to save work, so is not as neat as it could be with more time and care.

All audio wiring is shielded to prevent annoying proximity coupling with the bass guitar – common in open top chassis amps. The front panel shield is 3 x 1 ½" aluminium channel and the rear shield is an aluminium hobbyist case.

Good bass preamps are hard to find.

This one works really well and is an easy project.

Is that necessary? It has a 3 prong cord and it appears to be grounded to the chassis.
