He also commented that he "fixed" his amp so it sounds good without the pedal. I suppose I should try to find out what he did... I have a Blues DeVille that needs some help.

Amp is easy to fix. you sell it.

Completely different but somewhat the same is the Blues Deluxe Reissue.
distortion on that is fine. You just boost the front end and drive the output section into distortion.
and not use the drive channel

the fender drive channels on these series are notorious not good sounding. and like any high gain pre
volume is jumpy.

usually the typical tube screamer upfront, or using a EQ or volume pedal in the effects loop to tame the harsh tube pre sizzle
and calm down the volume jumps with the volume pedal.

This seems to be a real problem, these days. I have come across several "attachments" that don't work or, says:
You do not have permission to view this page or perform this action.
Why even post something like that if only the secret club members can access it?

Weird. Or, is this what the world's coming to?
