One gut shot in Post 1272, but that's OK!

At one time I used the guitar version, the G100 II on top of a Sonic 6x10 (sealed 6x10) at loud band practice and had no trouble hearing myself. Sounded amazing too!

A friend gave me the "small" combo version of the B100 II, the B100 IISE. It was just too big to keep around so I found a new home for it.

A friend has a Woodson W200 head which is essentially the same amp (I'm told some Woodsons even had Kustom circuit boards in them). Great, growly amp. While he has the matching 2x15, we used to plug it into my EV designed 2x15 (pre TL series) loaded with SRO15s. Amazing tone when turned up to the point where the pilot light pulsed with the string attack.

That's about the right size, Yamaha's US models were 60Hz only which makes them smaller than the 50Hz versions (by about 20%), and Yamaha used a higher grade of magnetic steel which also resulted in a slightly smaller transformer than others using a lower grade of steel.

Kustom Defender 15H. 15W all tube head from two el84’s. Sold as a guitar amp, but an Excellent bedroom practice amp for bass!

I have a bare chassis Yamaha B50 amp, removed from a water damaged 15" combo, that I use in my workshop. It sits on top of a Session 410 bass cab under the bench out of harms way.

It does sound nice at "workshop volume" but I wouldn't want to try and gig with it.

Thanks for bringing this thread back to life! I guess I never looked at it. I’m looking at the photos that were posted when this thread was started in 2009. I’m seeing some incredible amp guts from some amps that I’ve only heard people talk about!

Totally cool!

BTW, I know almost nothing about electronics, but it sure is fascinating to see how different designers lay everything out.
