Do you plan to jam with others, and maybe do a few gigs down the road? 500 bucks could get you a decent used, combo, and maybe even a head and cab rig. There are a
lot of choices out there these days to seem almost bewildering. Naturally you can search TB, and other musician boards, along with music retailer sites for user reviews. My advice is to buy something with enough headroom power for what you think you'll need now and the near future, and a good tonestack/e.q. is of more importance to me than other bells and whistles. I'm gonna stay out of the brand recommending game, as well as telling you what I like. Try to play through a few different amps if you can, and if something catches your fancy you can sure run it by here on TB where lot's of fine folks can chime in with their opinions and advice for both good and bad.
